6 Slow Cooker Sandwiches for Hot Summer Nights 🥪☀️

Hey, friend.

Most people pack the slow cooker away around Memorial Day and pull it back out when soup season hits...but I'd argue June is when it earns its keep!

Today I’ve pulled together six sandwich dinners that all start in the slow cooker and end on a bun. The kitchen stays cool, dinner is essentially done by lunchtime, and everybody is happy at the table.

THE CLASSIC

Slow Cooker Pulled Pork

A pork shoulder, a simple rub, and eight hours in the slow cooker. The kind of pulled pork that piles high on a bun and feeds a crowd without breaking a sweat.

BUTTERY & TANGY

Mississippi Pulled Pork

Pepperoncini, ranch seasoning, and a stick of butter do most of the work. The result is tender, tangy, and impossible to mess up, on a bun or otherwise.

SMOKY & SWEET

Crock Pot BBQ Pulled Chicken

Chicken breasts, your favorite BBQ sauce, and a few pantry staples. Pile it on a soft bun with a scoop of slaw and you've got dinner.

PEPPERS & PROVOLONE

Crock Pot Chicken Cheesesteak

Tender shredded chicken with peppers, onions, and melted provolone, all on a hoagie roll. It tastes like a steakhouse cheesesteak with about a tenth of the effort.

LIGHTER & SAUCIER

Turkey Sloppy Joes

Ground turkey simmered in a sweet-tangy sauce until it's perfectly sloppy. A little lighter than the beef version, but every bit as nostalgic.

6 INGREDIENTS

Meatball Subs (with Frozen Meatballs)

Frozen meatballs, marinara, mozzarella, and a hoagie roll. Dinner ready in the time it takes to set the table, and the kids almost always ask for seconds.

The slow cooker pulls more than its weight in the summer. Pick a sandwich, set it before lunch, and dinner takes care of itself.
