Meatloaf Night, Sides Included (8 Recipes)

Hey there!

Here’s the thing about meatloaf night: deciding on the loaf takes about four seconds. Then you’re standing there at five o’clock wondering what on earth goes next to it!

This week I’m giving you the whole plate: four meatloaves, and the four sides I’d actually put on the table with them.

Southern Meatloaf

The one I make most (the crumbs are cornbread instead of breadcrumbs). That’s the whole difference, and it’s a big one!

Bacon Wrapped Meatloaf

My newest one. Crispy bacon all the way around and a brown sugar glaze over the top, which is exactly as good as it sounds.

Oatmeal Meatloaf

Oats in place of breadcrumbs, the way grandmothers everywhere do it. It keeps the loaf tender and you probably have everything already.

Crockpot Meatloaf

Yes, you can make meatloaf in the slow cooker, and it frees up the oven for everything below.

Easy Potato Casserole

Aunt Bee’s three-ingredient recipe, and it’s the potato side I reach for when mashing isn’t happening!

Green Bean Casserole

Made with frozen green beans, so it’s a pantry-and-freezer job. Don’t wait until the holidays for this one!

Jiffy Corn Casserole

Somewhere between a side dish and a dessert, and nobody at my table has ever objected to that.

Creamed Peas

Old-fashioned in the best way. Peas in a simple cream sauce, done in about the time it takes the loaf to rest!

Meatloaf Tip: let the meatloaf sit ten minutes before you slice it. I know that’s hard when everyone’s hovering, but cut it straight out of the oven and it crumbles apart on the platter instead of holding together on the plate.

And if you do want mashed potatoes, my Make Ahead Garlic Mashed Potatoes can be done the day before, which takes one thing off the stove at dinnertime.

There’s more where these came from in my Best Meatloaf Recipes collection, sides and all.

Have a great week!
