Your back-to-school dinner rotation 📚🍽️

Hey there,

I was just having this exact conversation with one of my friends last week: the hard part about weeknight dinners isn't the just the cooking – it's deciding, over and over, five nights a week, what to make!

One approach that I find helpful is having a go-to lineup instead of a list. Five dinners I know work, in five different formats, so nothing gets old. In other words – you don’t end up eating Crock Pot suppers for 5 nights in a row!

This week I’m sharing five dinners, one per format, that are easy to repeat.

DUMP-AND-BAKE

Chicken Broccoli Rice Casserole

No pre-cooking anything. The raw ingredients go in one dish and come out as dinner, which is why this is the most-made recipe on my site.

SHEET PAN

Sausage and Potatoes

Crispy seasoned potatoes and smoked sausage bake together on one tray with about ten minutes of prep, and there's one pan to wash.

SLOW COOKER

Slow Cooker Pork Chops

Pork chops, vegetables, and a rich mushroom gravy all cook together while you're out, and the kitchen stays cool.

STOVETOP

Old Fashioned Sloppy Joes

Pantry staples and a sweet, tangy homemade sauce, done in under thirty minutes and better than the canned version.

PASTA NIGHT

American Chop Suey

Ground beef, elbow macaroni, and tomato sauce in one skillet. An old-school supper that every kid eats without complaint.

TACO NIGHT

Taco Pie

Jiffy cornbread crust on top of a taco filling, so it comes out of the oven in slices instead of getting assembled at the counter. Tex-Mex flavor without the taco bar cleanup!

Start with these five and swap one out whenever you get tired of it. That's how a rotation stays useful instead of turning into a rut.

If you want more to pull from, I've got a whole collection of back-to-school dinners the kids will actually eat!

Here's to a smooth first week,
